Parody Meets Classic Theater in Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy
What do you get when you mix parody in the SNL genre with classic Greek theater? A whole lot of funny. Hole in the Wall Theater in New Britain presents Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy by Alana McNair & Kate Wilkinson. This is the play that "will not be ignored."
Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy spoofs on the 1987 thriller, Fatal Attraction starring Glenn Close, Michael Douglas and Anne Archer. The story tells the tale of an extra-marital affair gone wrong when the "other woman" proves to be a psychotic stalker. The basic plot of the movie is retold, with a touch of humor. Adding to the hilarity, a Greek chorus guides and comments on the action, deriving it's commentary from a variety of classical sources including: Medea, The Heracleidae, Alcestis, Hippolytus by Euripides and the more contemporary Home and Health and Home Economics by C.H. Fowler and W.H. De Puy. To top it off, there is a dream ballet and director, Bill Arnold adds some original music.
Heading up the diverse cast is Joan DuQuette-Aresco of Wallingford portraying Glenn Close, Christopher 'Kit' Webb of Newington playing Michael Douglas, Terri D'Arcangelo of Cromwell as Anne Archer and Michael Daly of Windsor Locks as the daughter, Ellen Hamilton Lantzen. The supporting cast/Greek chorus includes John Stewart of New Britain, Kyndal Clemons of Bristol, Paul Popovich of Burlington, Phoebe Godfrey of Willimantic, Sal Uccello of Middletown, Sarah Macci of Milford, Shaunta Strong of Bristol, and Laura Danz of Farmington as the bunny.
The production team includes Director, Bill Arnold of Windsor, Choreographer Maria Grove of Marlborough, Stage Manager, Wendy Wolowicz of Terryville and Producer Roy Ryzak of Farmington.
The production runs Fridays and Saturdays, March 14 through April 12, 2008 at 8:00pm at Hole in the Wall's new facility at 116 Main Street, New Britain, Connecticut. Hole in the Wall, in support of its philosophy of making theater available to all people regardless of their ability to pay, does not charge admission but instead works on a donation basis. The suggested donation for Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy is $20.00, payment methods accepted include cash, check, or charge (Visa/MC). All contributions and patron donations are, graciously accepted and appreciated. The play contains adult situations and strong language and is recommended for adults only.
