Christina Giannelli, who portrays “Phoebe” in Hole in the Wall Theater’s (HITW) upcoming production of LINT! The Musical, was very active in theater in her teenage years. She took some time away from it and had four kids (Ages ten, nine, seven and six). She returned to the theater world as an adult two years ago and hasn’t looked back.

She is very passionate about this art form. “I love being able to tell a story,” she said. “I love being able to make people laugh, feel something, or look at something differently. I love singing and music. I love the camaraderie.”

As main character “Phoebe,” Christina finds herself trapped in a musical and not very happy about it. Her character spends the majority of the play trying to find a way out. “It’s a lot of fun to play her,” said Christina. “She is very sarcastic and mean. Personally, that is tough for me. I am sarcastic, but usually at my own expense.”

Christina is a fan of LINT’s eclectic musical score. “There is a wide variety of music in this show. That makes for a very entertaining show. You never know what to expect with the next song.”

Previously, Christina worked at Middletown Stage Company on a number of family shows. She was looking for something different and came upon HITW. She saw the theater’s production of Fat Men in Skirts and knew she wanted to work there. Previously, she appeared in HITW’s Enron.

“The HITW people are fantastic. Everyone is so welcoming and supportive. They take risks and chances with their shows which I appreciate.”

And what advice does she have for theater patrons? “Don’t die without seeing this show.”
